Neurosurgeons for Children
Neurosurgeons for Children was formed in 1985 by three world-recognized pediatric neurosurgeons: Frederick Sklar, M.D., Kenneth Shapiro, M.D., and Derek Bruce, M.D. In 1992, Dr. Dale Swift joined the practice, and in 1999, Dallas native Dr. Brad Weprin was added. Dr. Bruce retired in 2001, and Dr. David Sacco joined the practice in 2003. Dr. Angela Price joined the practice in 2004, when Dr. Shapiro retired.
From its inception, Neurosurgeons for Children has grown to be one of the busiest pediatric neurosurgery practices in North America, performing more than 900 neurosurgical operations each year. With five full-time pediatric neurosurgeons on staff, the practice also is one of the largest.
Neurosurgeons for Children maintains offices and performs surgeries at Children's Medical Center Dallas and the North Texas Hospital for Children at Medical City Dallas. They also see patients at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. Its neurosurgeons are regularly invited to speak at national and international pediatric neurosurgical meetings.
